This is the 6th consecutive year that we have attained the Gold Award and it is with sheer hard work and effort of everyone in the unit to have made it thus far.
Unlike Sport/Aesthetics CCAs where there are numerous opportunities for boys to clinch awards through numerous competitions, the Uniformed Groups such as NPCC attain awards that are cumulative in nature, which means that we are measured through year long assessments that involve activities such as camp craft, range, skills and enrichment tests. Often these assessments are not 'visible' to the school population. Instead, it involves the hard work and dedication of teachers and students who work behind the scene.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the following people:
1) The caring team of teachers - Mrs Mishaelle Chua, Ms Chew Huifang, Dr Koh Chee Yeong, Ms Melissa Lim and Mr Winston Chew. They are the strong pillars of the unit, without whom any of them, the cadets have always looked up to for guidance. It is because of them that the unit is still going strong.
2) The Cadet Inspectors (Michael Loh, Ryan Tan, Jeremy Ong) and Honorary Officer (Lim Zi Xun) (all our old boys who have come back to serve), who took time out of their schedule in ensuring the success of the programmes, and lastly
3) The wonderful cadets and cadet leaders (Batch 42 and 43) in the unit - for their unwavering passion and commitment to the CCA. They have held the fort and worked hard as a batch to serve and lead the rest of the unit.
Our success in 2015 was a result of everyone's effort in ensuring the smooth running of our programme. May our achievements so far spur us on and renew our commitment and faith in serving the unit in our own ways. Each and everyone of you have played a part in attaining our Gold award, so a heartiest Congratulations and Thank you for your hard work.
A congratulatory note from Father Adrian Danker, our Principal:
Dear NPCC cadets of SJI,On behalf of all of us in SJI, congratulations on doing SJI proud by attaining the NPCC Unit Overall Proficiency Award in 2015! This is a very fine achievement, especially as this is the 6th year SJI has received this Award. Well done, Josephians!
I believe that you are able to do so well because you have learnt to make our Josephians values your way of life in NPCC. You can't aim and attain excellence unless you have faith in yourself and in each other, and in God who is always with you. You can't give to make your Unit proficient and good unless you serve with generosity and good cheer. And you can't be a strong and united NPCC unit if you don't value community. Thank you for making our school values your way of being NPCC and doing the good work you do.
I would like to encourage you to continue to build on your strengths as our NPCC Unit and to grow them for yourselves and for your juniors.
Take time this week to thank your teacher-officers who guide you: Ms Lynette Lin, Mr Winston Chew, Ms Chew Hui Fang, Mr Ang Yuin Hur, Ms Melissa Lim and Mrs Mishalle Chua; you couldn't have done it without them!
Congratulations, again, gentlemen! Well done!
Ora et labora.
Adrian
We look forward to another good year in 2016.
Ora et labora,
Ms Lynette Lin
