NPCC MISSION



The MISSION of the National Police Cadet Corps is to develop our members to be active citizens and community leaders, by working in partnership with the Singapore Police Force to fight crime and keep Singapore safe.

The VISION of the National Police Cadet Corps is to become the best youth organisation in Singapore one that actively helps to make Singapore the safest place in the world.

SJI NPCC Aims

History of SJI NPCC


The St. Joseph's Institution National Police Cadet Corps unit was founded in 1971. Throughout the years, hundreds of cadets have filed through the doors of the unit, witnessing the legacies passed which have been cast in stone, right here in SJI.

The SJI NPCC was ranked joint-4th in Singapore in 2005, based on the achievements in the UOPA. The unit was awarded the silver cane after achieving Gold Award for UOPA five years consecutively.

The unit is headed by an Officer Commanding, assisted by a Unit Deputy OC and supported by Teacher Officers.

It is in Area 15, consisting of other NPCC Units that are namely Hwa Chong Institution, St. Margaret's Secondary School, Queensway Secondary School, ACS (Barker Road), Nanyang Girls' High School, Raffles Girls' School (Sea Unit), Balestier Hill Secondary School



ACHIEVEMENTS




2014 - SJI NPCC participated in the Biennial NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition, achieving a respectable 48th and 71th placing for Teams 1 and 2 respectively. SJI NPCC sent 2 teams for the X-Challenge and achieved 31th and 38th placing for Teams 1 and 2 respectively. SJI NPCC has been awarded the Gold Award for the Unit Overall Proficiency Award(UOPA) for the 4th consecutive year.

2013 - SJI NPCC has produced 6 SPF-NPCC badge awardees, which is the highest till date. In the annually held Area Games Day, SJI NPCC won 2 gold awards and 1 silver award.


2012 - SJI NPCC Team 1 attains 5th in the Inter-Unit 0.22 Revolver Shotting Competition. Teams 1 and 2 achieved 16th and 31st placings respectively in the 2012 NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition.

2011 - SJI NPCC has once again achieved the Gold Award for the Unit Overall Proficiency Award(UOPA).

2010 - SJI NPCC Team 1 attains 36th placing in the NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition . SI (NPCC) Tan Ci Kang is awarded the SPF-NPCC badge. SSgt (NPCC) Teh Kiok Yew attained 6th placing for NPCC .22 Revolver Competition (Individual).

2009 - CI (NPCC) Donovan represented NPCC in Singapore's First Asian Youth Games as a Flag Bearer of the Olympic Council of Asia flag.

2008 - SJI NPCC Team 2 attain 35th placing in the NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition, while Team 1 attain
ed 50th placing, SJI NPCC attained overall 2nd placing in the BPGHS-NPCC NAPFA Challenge 2008, SJI NPCC attained 26th placing in the Inter-Unit .22 Revolver Shooting Competition, SI (NPCC)Tan Aik Seng and SI (NPCC) Adam Yen are awarded the SPF-NPCC Badge, CI (NPCC) Donovan Ng represented SJI and clinched the champion position for the Inter-Area .38 Revolver Shooting Competition, CPL (NPCC) Tan Ci Kang marched in National Day Parade, CI (NPCC) Donovan Ng selected as NDP Trainer.

2007 - SI (NPCC) Chen Wei Jin is awarded the SPF-NPCC Badge, SJI NPCC attains 25th place in the Inter-Unit .22 Revolver Shooting Competition and 24th place for the Inter-Unit Quiz Competition, SJI NPCC gets 3rd placing for the TMSS-NPCC DOTA Competition, SI (NPCC) Chen Wei Jin commands the SJI 155th Anniversary Parade, a position normally reserved for officers, CPL (NPCC) Samuel Tay marches in National Day Parade.

2006 - SSGT (NPCC) Benjamin Hong is awarded the SPF-NPCC Badge, SJI NPCC clinched 34th place in the Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition.

2005 - SJI NPCC emerged 2nd in the Maris Stella NAPFA Challenge, SI (NPCC) Koh Pei Wei, SSGT (NPCC) Lim Han Kwang and SSGT (NPCC) Lim Mian Jun were awarded the SPF-NPCC Badge.

2004 - SI (NPCC) Ronald Loh and SI (NPCC) Nelson Loo awarded the SPF-NPCC Badge, CI (NPCC) Chan Ta Hoong and CI (NPCC) Marcus Tai bore the State and SPF flag for the NPDP, H/INSP (NPCC) Alger Lu and A/ASP (NPCC) Aaron Goh awarded the CP Award, SJI NPCC emerged 14th in the Bi-annual Inter Unit Campcraft Competition (HQ), SJI NPCC emerged 6th in the Bi-annual Inter-Area Project Competition (HQ), 3rd (Group) in the Kranji NPCC Idol Competition, Anti-Drug Abuse Banner Competition, Champion in the annual Sale of Police Week Carnival tickets. SJI NPCC also emerged Champion in the Area T-Shirt Design Competition, and the Total Defence NPCC Photography Competition.

2003 - Unit OC presented with Long Service Award for 12 years of service to the Corps.

2002 - SJI NPCC emerged 15th in the Inter Unit Campcraft Competition (HQ).

2000 - 2 officers received the Commissioner of Police Award, CI (NPCC) Tan Yong Yao clinche
d Best CIBTC Trainee Award, 3 cadets awarded the prestigious SPF-NPCC Badge, SJI NPCC emerged Champion (Area League) in the Inter Unit Street Soccer Competition, Area 7 Fancy Drill Competition, Area 7 Campcraft Competition, and the Inter UGO Soccer Competition. SJI NPCC also emerged 2nd runner up in the Inter-Area Project-Based Competition.

1999 - CI (NPCC) Kelvin Hoon awarded Best ATC Trainee for the CIBTC.

1998 - SI (NPCC) Andy Yap was contingent commander at the NPDP, SJI NPCC emerged 5th in the Inter Area Project Based Competition.

1996 - Unit OC receives the Commissioner of Police Award.

1983 - SJI NPCC Cadet Inspectors helped to train competition team for TK Tech Girls National Drill Competition and obtained 1st and 2nd position, for girls and boys respectively. 

1982 - SJI NPCC Cadet Inspectors helped to train competition team entered for TK Tech Girls National Drill Competition, emerging as Champions.

1981 - SJI won the CIBTC awards for Best Drills, Campcraft and Shot. 

1980 - SJI won the CIBTC awards for Best Drills, Campcraft and Shot.

1979 - SJI NPCC gets awards for Best CI during the CIBTC, SJI produces Singapore's first two Station Inspectors in NPCC. 

1978 - SJI NPCC won the Kwan Sau Keong Challenge Shield (Annual Drill Competition), Best Drill/ Turnout for CIBTC 

1977 - SJI NPCC received awards for Best CI (CI (NPCC) Noel Cheah) and Best Drill (CI (NPCC) Henry Kwek), SJI NPCC won the Kwan Sau Keong Challenge Shield (Annual Drill Competition), the first time ever won by a Secondary Two Squad. 

1975 - SJI NPCC won the Kwan Sau Keong Challenge Shield (Annual Drill Competition)
