Campcraft Test For Secondary One Cadets

To all Sec 1s,

Please note that your campcraft test is on Tuesday (16/11). The campcraft test is assessed based on:
  • 8 basic knots (4 marks each with timing)
  • 4 lashes (10 marks each-- 4m for timing, 3m for neatness, 3m for tension)
  • theory (28 marks)
For knots, you would be tested on thumb knot, slip knot, bowline, fishermen's knot, sheep shank, reef knot, figure-of-eight and sheet bend. For lashings, you would be tested on round lash, square lash, gyn lash and shear lash.

For theory on knots, you will need to give 3 uses of each knot. This will be 1m each. For theory on lashings, you will need to give 1 example of how the lashing can be used. This will be 2m each. Additionally, you have to give 6 more examples of the lashes or alternative uses of the lashes. This will be 1m each. After you get your final score for theory on lashings, it will be converted to 28%. For the theory on knots and lashings, it can be found in the cadets manual in the blog as well as in the lecture notes in the blog.
The total mark for the campcraft test will be 100%. The passing mark will be 65%. Please prepare well and spread the message around.

Regards
Ian Tjahjono
